Early Childhood Programs
We are thrilled to introduce our unique “Honey Bees” -a gentle, Waldorf-inspired farm and forest program - thoughtfully designed for the curious and imaginative minds of children ages 2 to 5. This special program embrace the natural wonder and joy of early childhood, offering a gentle rhythm to each day that nurtures both heart and mind of our youngest friends.
Led by our beloved Waldorf-certified teacher, Caitylnn Sinagra, and assistants, each morning follows a comforting rhythm that nurtures curiosity, creativity, confidence, and a deep connection to the natural world.
Children spend their days immersed in the changing seasons, with plenty of time to explore, create, wonder, engage in farm life with our beloved animals, and enjoy various homesteading activities.
Daily Rhythm & Activities
Each day begins with children gathering in a warm, welcoming circle to share in songs, stories, and the joy of being with friends. From there, they will engage in a variety of enriching projects such as bread making, crafting, and fiber arts. These hands-on activities are not only fun but also foster creativity, fine motor skills, and a love for making things by hand.
Each day may include:
Nature walks and forest exploration
Caring for and interacting with our friendly farm animals
Seasonal cooking and baking using fresh, wholesome ingredients
Fiber arts including finger knitting, simple weaving, wool felting, and other handcrafts
Watercolor painting, beeswax modeling, drawing, and open-ended art
Rich storytelling, puppetry, and seasonal fairy tales
Circle time with songs, verses, movement, and music
Gardening, harvesting, and practical life activities
Outdoor play in every season, embracing sunshine, rain, mud, and snow
Quiet moments of wonder, imagination, and connection
Rather than rushing from one activity to the next, we embrace a gentle daily rhythm that helps children feel secure while encouraging independence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning.
Farm & Nature Exploration
Our program is set in the serene surroundings of Stony Hollow Farm, where the children will have daily, interactive experiences with our friendly farm animals. Whether feeding, petting, or simply observing, these moments help to build empathy and a connection to the natural world.
The adventure continues as we explore the magical forest and garden. In the garden, the children will care for the vegetables, herbs, and flowers, experiencing the joy of harvesting and tasting the bounty they help nurture. The nearby woods and creek offer endless opportunities for exploration and discovery, as the children immerse themselves in the vibrant life of these natural spaces.
At Stony Hollow, children are invited to build with natural materials, gather eggs, bake bread, care for animals, sing together, listen to beautiful stories, create with their hands, and discover the magic that each season brings.
This program is designed to captivate and delight our youngest friends, creating a strong foundation for their first learning experiences. We are excited to be part of their journey here at the homestead and look forward to the many memories we will create together.
The days are always full and fun, and as always we make sure the days flow naturally with the rhythm of the children!
We look forward to welcoming your family to the farm and creating magical memories with your children that last a lifetime.
Acceptance criteria: We welcome all children ages 2.5 and up who are excited to join us and can feel comfortable in the environment we offer. All children need to be toilet independant. To ensure our program is the right fit for your family, we require a conversation with Juliet Kingsley, our Farm Program Director, prior to enrollment. This call helps us learn about your child’s needs and interests while giving you the opportunity to ask questions and better understand our approach. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive, and joyful experience for every child who becomes part of our farm community.
